According to Spanish media ‘AS’, Cristiano Ronaldo is set to return to Manchester United on Tuesday to make his wishes of playing for Real Madrid known to the Reds.

Apparently, even Cristiano Ronaldo is fed up with all the transfer speculation which has flooded the football airwaves this summer, and will tell Manchester United that he only wants to play for Real Madrid.

“Everything is fine. Next week I will return to England and tell them that my only desire is to play for Real Madrid and that I will not negotiate,” Ronaldo told AS.

Manchester United might have to sell Ronaldo after all.  With a  little less than one month till the closing of the transfer window, one would be left to believe that this saga will soon be over.

None of these comments which were reported by Spanish media ‘Marca’ are substantiated, and therefore, could be Real Madrid’s way of causing turmoil amidst Manchester United brass and players alike.

Just one day after Sir Alex Ferguson’s insistence that Cristiano Ronaldo would remain at Old Trafford for another year, Spanish media AS and Marca have reported that Real Madrid’s pursuit of the young scoring phenom has not ended.

“I can say he’ll be a Manchester United player next season. That’s our stance. He won’t be sold,” Ferguson told a news conference in South Africa Friday where the side is on a pre-season tour.

This statement made the front pages of Spanish sports media AS and Marca, who remain adamant that Real Madrid’s pursuit of Cristiano Ronaldo isn’t over yet, insisting that Ferguson’s words were just a ploy to raise the price.

Real Madrid has reportedly secured a 70 million euro bank loan to carry out the transfer and are believed to be unwilling to give up the opportunity to sign Cristiano.

According to ‘Marca’, the Glazer family who bought the Red Devils in 2004, feel that it would be too risky to keep Ronaldo. They feel that his value may decrease if they hold onto the Portuguese winger and are therefore considering the deal.

There is a lot of speculation in the newspapers all the time about where he will go and what he is doing but we know who he really is and what he is really up to. He wants to stay at United.”
