The long anticipated wait for Cristiano Ronaldo’s return saw fruition vs Zurich that saw Real Madrid’s win 1-0 in this Champions League game. Cristiano Ronaldo was a late 70th minute substitute for Raul Gonzalez, which allowed Cristiano to test out his ankle in non training environment.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s substitution was greeted by cheers from the Real fans who have missed their star player. Although too early to tell, it appears that Cristiano Ronaldo’s ankle is strong and apparently pain free.

It was reported at that time that Cristiano Ronaldo would be out until at the very earliest, October. The great news is that Cristiano Ronaldo’s recovery has been so quick that he is currently training with the club and may be back for Wednesday’s Champions League game against Villarreal. That would be great for Manchester, who’ve struggled early this season without their star winger. We look forward to seeing Cristiano play again.

Real Madrid President Ramon Calderon

It’s no secret that Real Madrid have been trying to lure Cristiano Ronaldo away from Manchester United for some time. The general consensus is that Cristiano will remain with Manchester for the next several years and then make his move to Spain to fulfill a life-long ambition to play for Real.

But a new quote by Cristiano Ronaldo, given to Spanish football news ‘Marca’ and later reported by Goal.com, has once again sparked trade rumors. When asked about his future, Cristiano Ronaldo replied by saying. “For my future, I neither know nor want to talk about it. After the Champions League final, we can talk about it.”

Knowing that Alex Ferguson has a history of offloading superstars at their peak, and that Real Madrid have very deep pockets, will no doubt leave Manchester United faithful feeling a tad nervous.

In the meantime however, Cristiano Ronaldo is focused on the next two games. The Champions League final and their last league game versus Wigan on May 11.
