During the 2008 Euro Championships, UEFA has teamed up with the Red Cross to raise money for the victims of land mines in Afghanistan, which will provide artificial limbs, physiotherapy and vocational training for those victims.

On March 26 2008, Cristiano Ronaldo was named the Ambassador to the “SCORE FOR RED CROSS” campaign.

Internet users will be able to purchase virtual goals at www.scorefortheredcross.org.. The purchaser of the virtual goals has a choice of teams which are taking part in the tournament…

The team which has the most virtual goals bought will win the “the most humanitarian team”

At the present moment. Portugal is in first place, followed by Switzerland and Italy in third… The purchaser of these goals also has an opportunity to win two of 28 tickets available for various Euro tourney games, as well as autographed jerseys and footballs.

The draws will take place every Friday at 6pm till the end of the tournament.
