Roy Keane: Clubs Sell Players Like A Piece Of Meat

roy-keane

Former Manchester United captain and current Sunderland manager, Roy Keane has spoken out on the Cristiano Ronaldo “slavery” comment by Sepp Blatter, but probably not how many United faithful would wish.

FIFA president, Sepp Blatter caused a lot of controversy last week when he told English media that United’s refusal to sell Ronaldo to Real Madrid along with threats of punishing him for being disloyal to the club, was the same as ‘modern day slavery’.

Keane told ‘The Sun’ that Cristiano Ronaldo should piss off Fergie if he wants to leave the Red Devils.

“If a player wants to leave, all he has to do is train with the wrong attitude and I guarantee you’d piss off any manager,” Keane said in The Sun.

“There’s not much loyalty left in football, unfortunately, from my own experiences. Clubs sell players sometimes like a piece of meat, so if a player wants to go and better himself, good luck to him.

“When a club is finished with you, they get rid. My advice is look after yourself,”

“If you get a chance for bigger and better things, then go for it. I’ve experienced that myself.

“People question players’ loyalty. I question clubs’ loyalty. It’s a business to them.

“If you’re not needed then you can be out of the door in 10 minutes, and I’m speaking from experience. Clubs buy and sell players. Clubs sell players sometimes like a piece of meat.”

Roy Keane should know what goes on behind the scenes.

I salute the man for telling it like it is. It’s not the easiest thing to do, especially in the UK. I’m sure he’s made many enemies by these comments because people are too involved and forget that it is a business for both sides.

Roy Keane is a smart man.

Roy Keane is obviously ticked at something that happened to him while he played for Manchester United. I don’t know what it is, but I think his comments are a bit stretched

7. Jane - July 23, 2008

he’s bitter because he didn’t leave United on good terms.

Roy Keane doesnt know what loyalty means. I bet if he owned Ronny and had a contract with him, he wouldn’t let him go either. wats his problem??? ???*slavery*??? wat does he mean slavery. Ferguson signed a contract with him so ferguson OWNS him, its Ronnys fault. i see Ferguson trying to help the team. he has his rite to keep ronny no matter wat evry1 else thinks. its not ronny’s fault ferguson and keane didn get along very well.

by the way, hows it goin admin

Hey Guys, very powerful comments. Roy Keane is a big personality so when he speaks people listen. Like Todd said, he’s definitely made some enemies, but then again, Roy doesn’t seem to be the kind of guy who really cares what people think.

Cheers guys.

Hey Miguel, it’s nice to have you back. We missed your input and your insight. Hope all is well. :-)
