The Portuguese National Team confronted group rivals Czech Republic, in a game which would ultimately put Portugal into the quarter-finals of this year’s Euro tournament.
Cristiano Ronaldo proved why he is undoubtedly the world’s best footballer by having a say in all three Portuguese goals versus the Czech Republic.
In the first eight minutes of the game, Portugal International and Barcelona star, Deco, put away Portugal’s first goal of the game, after Ronaldo beat Czech goaltender, Cech to the ball. The loose ball was picked up by Deco and shot past Czech defenders.
First half ended in a 1 – 1 draw.
In the 63rd minute of the game, Cristiano Ronaldo scored his first goal of the tournament. Deco made a brilliant pass just outside the Czech box. Ronaldo struck to put Portugal in front for the second time in the game.
Portugal would put the game away with minutes left in the game, after a quick free kick sent Ronaldo on a break-away. Ronaldo elected to pass the ball to newly substituted Quaresma, who tapped the ball into the back of the net, putting Portugal in front by two.
The game ended 3 – 1 for Portugal.
Turkey beat Switzerland in their game, putting Portugal through to the knock out stages.
