Following a recent court victory, where Cristiano Ronaldo was granted an undisclosed amount to cover damages to his reputation, the Mirror has publicly apologized to Cristiano Ronaldo for these accusations regarding an alleged drinking ‘bender’. In the apology, the Mirror accepts that their front page article, titled  “Ron the Lash”, printed on 17 July of 2008,  was ‘falsely reported that whilst recovering from an operation to his ankle’. The apology goes on to state that ‘Cristiano did not “go on a bender”, did not drink any alcohol that evening, did not spend £10,000 on alcohol, nor throw his crutches to the floor or try to dance.’
